Beginning this afternoon and into this evening, please expect service delays and/or possible detours related to President Trump’s visit and subsequent road closures.

Potentially impacted routes include: Express 3, Express 4 and local routes 11, 12, 13 and 104, though traffic impacts could affect areas throughout the service area.

Customer service representatives will be standing by this afternoon at (843) 724-7420 to share details as they’re available.  Riders are also encouraged to download the transit app for real time arrival information regarding their route.

Updates will also be available via CARTA social media channels.

Update 1 – Express 4 Detour

Due to road closures in the Tanger Outlet area, Express 4 will not be able to service the following stops:

• Stop 788 Fire Museum
• Stop 789 Saks Fifth Ave.

Alternate stops for passengers in this area are as follows:

• Stop 431 International Blvd./Centre Point
• Stop 432 Centre point Dr./ Fashion
• Stop 425 Centre Point Dr./Tanger Outlet Blvd.
• Stop 409 Tanger Outlet/Hotel Rd.

Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority will accept proposals to perform professional engineering and project management services to attain compliance with the South Carolina Underground Storage Tank Control Regulations 61-92 Part 280 for two 2,000 gallon tanks located at the transit maintenance facility located at 3664 Leeds Ave. North Charleston, SC 29405.

ROUTE 11 DETOURS

EFFECTIVE DATES: 02.20.2020 – 02.24.2020

Due to road closures related to road construction on Spruill Ave., Route 11 will be detouring starting on Thursday, February 20^th and will continue until Monday February 24^th.  Several stops will be effected and will not be able to be serviced during the closure:

All CARTA services will be on Sunday schedule Monday, January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Normal operating hours will resume Tuesday, January 21.

Several routes will be impacted by the Charleston Marathon occurring on Saturday, January 11, 2020.  The event starts around 7am and impacts may be continue into early afternoon hours.

• Routes will operate on a Sunday schedule on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 and Wednesday December 25, 2019.  If the route does not run on Sundays, it will not operate on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, please plan accordingly.
