Weather conditions in Charleston can range from extremely hot and humid in the spring and summer months, to cool and humid in the winter months. Snow or ice is a rarity in the winter, but hurricanes or tropical storms can present a weather threat form June to November of each year.

At times inclement weather may cause flooding in areas and some road closures which may affect bus routes.   Detours or changes in services will be detailed on our Announcements page, facebook page and posted on twitter.

Hurricanes/Natural Disasters

In the event of a natural disaster, currently, CARTA has been identified to transport the disabled and evacuees with pets.   However, CARTA will participate in any required by Charleston County Emergency Management.
