CARTA stands for: Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority. CARTA offers Fixed-route, Flex Service, Express commute service, and Paratransit service throughout the Charleston Metropolitan area, including The Trolley (DASH) service in the Historic Peninsula area of the Charleston.

This site provides information about how the system can take you almost anywhere your life takes you in the Charleston Metro area including work, shopping, hospitals, schools, and much more.

If you’ve lost something on CARTA or a DASH Shuttle, we may have it.

Lost items found on CARTA vehicles are turned in to the operations facility located at 3664 Leeds Ave. in North Charleston.  Please call (843) 747-0922 for inquires. At no time does CARTA or Veolia (CARTA Transit Operators) assume responsibility for lost items.

Lost and Found Retrieval Tips:

  • Items sometimes will not reach the facility until the end of a shift.  It is best to call as soon as you realize you may have left items behind.  In some circumstances, the bus operator can be contacted and at the next convenient stop location, they can check the vehicle for your item.  It is still advised to call the next day to confirm if CARTA found your lost item.
  • When you call be ready with information that can help us identify our lost item, such as a detailed description or a unique characteristic of an item.
  • Knowing the time you were on the bus, the bus route name and number, the bus number and the direction of travel can help.
  • Items are kept for two weeks after being found.
